And the rankings are in…

I’m writing this while waiting on hold with ISU Financial Aid. So far it’s been 20 minutes and needless to say I’m more than frustrated.

Anyway, as I listen to the hold music that each university takes things the way they want it. This is in direct reference to the Princeton Review’s recent rankings that have been released. Indiana State is more than thrilled that they have been once again received a “Best in the Midwest” ranking while DePauw is trying to fight off it’s ranking of #10 on party schools.

Interesting isn’t it? While Indiana State advertises the Princeton Review’s rankings on their homepage, DePauw combats the rankings stating that the Princeton Review is simply the National Enquirer of college reviews. I find this to be hilarious! I have no doubt in my mind that this may very well be true but I am still puzzled on how to conduct my own assessment of the data and of the Princeton Review.

While the institution that I will and have received my degree prides itself in rankings, the institution that I work for downplays the ranking system. The only conclusion that I can reach is that I can’t make a conclusion. I guess I will have to see which how this all plays out and if the Princeton Review really is the National Enquirer of Higher Education…

Oh, and I just got of the line with Financial Aid; 28 minutes of hold time for a 1 minute call. Awesome.
